Amazon Q Business
A fully managed generative AI assistant that answers employee questions using company internal data — like having an expert who has read every internal document.
It runs on Amazon Bedrock, but users cannot choose or change the foundation model. Think of it as a higher-level layer on top of Bedrock.

Answer Questions: searches internal documents and provides answers with citations (RAG-style) Summaries: automatically summarizes long reports or meeting notes Generate Content: drafts job postings, social media posts, or emails based on company data Automate Tasks: handles repetitive work like leave requests or IT ticket creation
Data Connectors
40+ enterprise data sources connected in a fully managed way with automatic crawling. Includes AWS services (S3, RDS, Aurora) and non-AWS services (Microsoft 365, SharePoint, Google Drive, Salesforce, Slack).
Plugins vs Data Connectors
Data Connectors = read-only (search and retrieve data) Plugins = write/action (create a Jira issue, update a record)
User Access
Managed via IAM Identity Center. Users only receive answers from documents they have permission to access.
Admin Controls
Similar to Bedrock Guardrails. Admins can block specific topics or words, and decide whether to use internal data only or also allow external model knowledge.
